The Hydrocarbonate Reactor HR 400 neutralizes the sulfuric acid when used with the SR 400 -- a bio-reactor filled with sulphur beads, which promote the growth of the specialized bacteria that remove nitrate. Sulfuric acid is a bi-product of the biochemical reaction that takes place in the SR 400. In consequence, the SR 400 must always be used in combination with a Hydrocarbonate Reactor HR 400, in which the sulfuric acid is neutralized. Both reactors are supplied with a strong holding system.
