Apostles

Released as a part of the Richard Hickox Legacy series, this 2 for 1 rerelease features Hickox conducting the London Symphony Orchestra and Chorus in Elgar's all-too-often overlooked oratorio The Apostles. An expansive and lavishly orchestrated work, The Apostles contains some of Elgar's most inspired music. The two most prominent roles, Mary Magdalene and Judas, are sung by Alfreda Hodgson and Robert Lloyd, respectively. The recording also features an outstanding performance from a young Bryn Terfel as Peter.
