Artists and Engravers: Author: Maarten Houttuyn (1720-1798) was a Dutch physician in Amsterdam. Carl or Carolus Linnaeus (1707-1778) (also known as Carl von Linne after his ennoblement) was a Swedish botanist, physician and zoologist. He is considered the father of modern Taxonomy and ecology. The engravers of the plates are J.C. Philips and G. Philips.
