Attempting to find the right approach towards healing an addiction, it starts with, that addiction is not a disease, contrary to what everyone might have been told or to what more or less every author suggests and continues to find a solution and offers effective recovery strategies.
Stating that addiction, in its essence, is a bio psychosocial disorder and as such, requires clear understanding and a holistic treatment, the author finds it imperative that anyone who suffers from addiction needs to be treated simultaneously on the mental, emotional, physical as well as spiritual level.
Why? Because he rightly uncovers that the widespread ‘disease model’ of addiction does not solve the problem and worse, dehumanizes the individual. Yet when one tries to really understand addiction as a behavioral disorder, which ignited into existence through suffering and pain, one can finally treat it effectively and achieve the long term results every addict truly hoped for!
