If you're struggling with stubborn excess weight and have ruled out your thyroid as the cause, consider the possibility of adrenal fatigue. Your adrenals help you cope with stress, but if you're susceptible, the adrenal glands can start to weaken. Symptoms of adrenal fatigue include salt cravings, low blood pressure, low energy, unexplained weight gain, insomnia, and muscle weakness. My symptoms began in late 2004. I went to several doctors, but found no help or relief. I tried all the major diets with no success. I used the standard high intensity exercise plans, but they left me frustrated, exhausted, and even more overweight. There are good books on cortisol overload and adrenal recovery. However, I couldn't find a plan that worked for weight loss and maintenance with my adrenal fatigue condition. I set out on a journey to find a new lifestyle adapted to my adrenal fatigue condition. Through lots of trial and error, I developed a lifestyle plan that helped me manage my symptoms and lose 30 lbs without prescription medication or stimulants.
