AmScope PS100D Prepared Microscope Slide Set for Basic Biological Science Education, 100 Anatomy and Botany Slides, Set D, Includes Fitted Wooden Case
The AmScope PS100D microscope slide set includes 100 prepared anatomy and botany slides with a variety of specimens including plants, insects, and animal tissues, and is used in basic biology education. The samples are preserved in cedar wood oil and sealed with a coverslip to preserve specimens and prevent contamination. Labeling on each slide identifies specimens. Slides are composed of optical glass for clear viewing and are 3 x 1 x 0.4 inches/75 x 25 x 1mm (H x W x D, where H is height, the vertical distance from the lowest to highest point; W is width, the horizontal distance from left to right; D is depth, the horizontal distance from front to back.) The set comes in a fitted wooden case to prevent breakage and ease handling.
Set D slide specimens include ant (whole mount), ascaris egg (whole mount), ascaris (cross section), Aspergillus (whole mount), bamboo (whole mount), blood fluke-eggs (whole mount), broad bean radical tip (longitudinal section), butterfly leg (whole mount), chlorella (whole mount), ciliated epithelium (section), corn starch (whole mount), cotton leaf (cross section), cotton stem (cross section), cotton worm (whole mount), cow hair (whole mount), Cucurbita (whole mount), cyclops (whole mount), dandelion fuzz (whole mount), dense connective tissue (section), dog cohurmar ciliated (section), dog colurmar epithelium (section), dog hair (whole mount), dog stomach cardiac region (section), dog stomach pyloric region (section), dog tongue (longitudinal section), dog urinary bladder (section), dogbane leaf, earthworm (cross section), feather (whole mount), fern leaf-sorus (cross section), fern root (cross section), fern stem (cross section), fibre (whole mount), frog spermatozoa (smear), frog-blastula (section), frog-early gastrula (section), frog-gastrula (section), frog-holoblastic cleavage (section), gourd pollen (whole mount), hemp (whole mount), housefly body (whole mount), house fly leg (whole mount), house fly wing (whole mount), hydra (longitudinal section), leaf of winter jasmine (cross section), letter "e" (whole mount), lichen (section), lilac leaf (cross section), lily leaf (cross section), locust wing (whole mount), loose connective tissue (whole mount), mantis leg (whole mount), mantis wing (whole mount), Marchantia antheridia (longitudinal section), Marchantia archegonia (longitudinal section), moss capsule (longitudinal section), mouse cuboidal epithelium (section), mouse kidney (longitudinal section), nylon fibers (whole mount), paramecium-conjugation (whole mount), paramecium-fission (whole mount), peacock feather (whole mount), pelargonium of leaf (cross section), pepper (whole mount), pig liver (section), pine cone-female (longitudinal section), pine pollen (whole mount), pine stem (longitudinal section), planaria (cross section), planaria (whole mount), plasmodesmata (section), polytrichum antheridia (longitudinal section), polytrichum archegonia (longitudinal section), privet leaf (cross section), pumpkin pollen (whole mount), rabbit ganglia (section), ranunculus root (cross section), root bacteria (cross section), salt crystal (whole mount), shrimp-egg (whole mount), silk fibers (whole mount), silkworm moth larva (whole mount), skin mammal (section), spirogyra (whole mount), stem of buttercup (cross section), stem to show lenticel (cross section), stem-cork cell (cross section), stem-sieve tube and companion cell (longitudinal section), straw (whole mount), striated muscle (cross section), sugar (whole mount), Taenia pisiformis (whole mount), tobacco (whole mount), tomato leaf (cross section), typical plant cell (whole mount), vegetable pollen (whole mount), vicia faba root tip (longitudinal section), wheaten leaf epidermis (whole mount), wool sheep (whole mount), young root of broad bean (cross section).
Microscopes are instruments used to enhance the resolution of an object or image. Types include compound, stereo, or digital. Compound microscopes use a compound optical system with an objective lens and an eyepiece. Stereo microscopes show object depth in a three-dimensional image. Digital microscopes are used to display an image on a monitor, rather than looking through a lens. Microscopes can have monocular (one), binocular (two), or trinocular (three) eyepieces, with varying magnification abilities. Magnification ability refers to the size of an image. Resolution, also known as resolvant power, refers to the clarity of the image. The interaction between field of view (FOV), numerical aperture (NA), and working distance (WD) determines resolution. Microscopes can control magnification through a fixed focus, or through a range of adjustments. They can also utilize LED, fluorescent, and mirror light sources to help control viewing capabilities. Microscopes are widely used in education, lab research, biology, metallurgy, engineering, chemistry, manufacturing, and in the medical, forensic science, and veterinary industries.
United Scope manufactures microscopy equipment and accessories under the brand name AmScope. The company, founded in 1996, is headquartered in Irvine, CA.
