Afrs Benny Goodman Show, Vol. 19

The latest edition of this popular series featuring The Benny Goodman Orchestra which documents the complete series of radio programs broadcast during the latter part of the 1940s. This CD, volume nineteen, includes as a guest Jimmy Dykes, an unusual subject to appear on a show of this nature. He was a baseball player (1933 to 1939) and manager (1934 to 1946) of the Chicago White Sox. He also later managed a number of other notable teams. Show forty five has as guest artist, Frances Langford, who was a prolific radio and movie singer/actress. Her most notable appearances being in The Glenn Miller Story, Yankee Doodle Dandy, Walt Disney's Melody Time and The Broadway Melody Of 1936. She has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, at 1500 Vine Street, which acknowledges her contribution to motion pictures. As usual the shows are compered by popular comedian Victor Borge.
