"I first met Sheku in a gay bar only two weeks or so after the departure of my ex, King Tokles. I€d called in to the Court Hotel, the city€s main gay venue and host to some really spectacular drag shows. I noticed this tall black boy sitting by himself at the bar. And when I say black he was coal black. His hair was closely cropped and his spectacular smile seemed to illuminate the dark corner of the bar. His luxuriously long legs swept upwards to a trim torso and even in those dim conditions I could see the outline of a truly grand package. He was being totally ignored by the chattering twinks and queens who were clustered around him. It was as if he wasn't there, sitting in their midst. At once my heart went out to him, the boy looked so desperately lonely. Or was that a kind of pseudo-emotion manufactured by the awakening lust that was tweaking my dick? What was wrong with those wretched queens? Then it struck me; to them the ebony boy was so exotic, so beautiful, so beyond their usual experience that they didn€t know how to react. As Kevin is learning to cope with the exotic Congolese boy and his massive member he journeys mentally back in time to the seventeenth century. He's working on a television series about the good ship Batavia which was wrecked off the coast of the Great South Land. As the story goes a mad charismatic serial killer, Jeronimus Cornelius, appoints himself leader of the survivors and starts a campaign of mayhem, torture and murder. Wouter and Henrik, two cabin boys, are in love with each other but find that they face a horrendous dilemma: will they have to bare their asses to the pirates in order to survive?

"My interest in the story had been sparked by my discovery that two of the cabin boys on the vessel were lovers. They€d grown up together in a small village just outside Amsterdam. Gay sex was not only against the law at that time in Holland, it was a hanging offence. I imagined that the two boys, Henrik and Wouter, apart from wanting to see the mysterious Far East, signed on so that they could be together without risking the hangman€s rope.
The more I explored the story of the Batavia and its two cabin boys the more I began to understand my Congolese boy.
