ARDOYNE The Pain Remains the Same
A true story as told by the author who was a soldier serving in Northern Ireland in 1971. The shooting incident on the night of December the 10th 1971 when a routine street patrol turned in to moments of chaos, resulting in the death of an innocent civilian who was attending a Christmas party as well as celebrating his wedding anniversary. Having read all the statements by both soldiers and civilians relating to the night in question, this is the author’s interpretation of the sequence of events which lead to a number of civilians being injured and Joseph Parker, a young 25 year-old, married man being fatally wounded and who died only 6 hours after the incident which took place at Toby’s Hall in the Ardoyne district of Belfast.
