This thermometer is break resistant and has a child-safe probe. In other words, it can be used rectally or orally (for us big boys and girls) and axillary (in the armpit) as well. One note: This medical thermometer is not waterproof and cannot be immersed in water. The best way to clean the thermometer tip is by applying a disinfectant (e.g. 70% ethyl alcohol) with a damp cloth.

It is possible to easily change the measuring scale from Fahrenheit to Celsius by simply holding in the on/off button for 2 seconds as you are turning it on.
