8x10" Fresnel Lens Full Page Magnifying Sheet - 2mm Thick
This 8 in x 10 in x 2mm thick magnifying plastic sheet is great for optics / science projects, for reading or just fun. A French physicist named Augustin Fresnel invented this lens in 1822 to be used in lighthouses. The construction of Fresnel lens is quite interesting as it allows magnification just like regular glass lenses do but it can be as thin as paper! This particular fresnel lens sheet is 2mm thick, offering more durability than most lens sheets, making it useful wherever it may be needed.
A Fresnel lens can be made as large as desired without making it thicker due to concentric rings placed on the flat surface. Magnify objects or concentrate solar power to a fine point. This is a great tool for reading small type or magnifying small flora.
Fresnel lenses are a great addition to any scale modelers toolbox to enhance one's ability work on the small models, or even as a cover for stationary models such as lighthouses. Other possibilities include being used as the window glass for LED illuminated highlights, as well as house or store windows.
