This product is made up of dry plant nutrients which have been enclosed within several layers of polymeric resin. By which water passes through the permeable shell and dissolves the nutrient core. The occurrence of the pressure exerted within the granule releases the plant nutrients through the coating. This product also has small traces of copper but from my research on Google.com the amount of copper (0.005) does no harm to shrimps or other aquatic life. I speak from research stand point I have not shrimps in my tank. Any fertilizer that contain trace elements also has copper in them including the brand name products such a Seachem Flourish Tabs and others
