5 Steps to Mastering the MCAT's Verbal Section
The verbal section is a mess. No one really knows how to study for it, and the same prep books that are great for the science sections can be useless for verbal. I trust you don€t have a lot of time to prepare, so I€ll skip a lengthy introduction about who I am. But I got a 14 on the verbal section, a 10 on my first practice test, and am headed to medical school. I€m tempted to lie and say I got a 6 on my first practice test and a 15 on the test itself, but it€s better that you have an idea of what this program can and can€t do for you. The truth is that this program is a lot of work and its benefits remain unproven. It€s what I did to improve, and it took a friend of mine from a 9 to a 12 on his verbal section. So while everyone who has followed this program (2 people) has observed results, not many people have tried this advice. I have no idea if it works.
However, I can promise that the advice is unique. Some of it is backed by science and some of it is backed by experience. Here€s what we go over.
In step 1, we go through the advice you€ve heard and the advice in Prep books. We sort out what€s good and what€s worthless.
In step two, we provide little appreciated techniques and tricks for answering the test questions.
Next we show you how to relax before the MCAT, since as we will explain being relaxed and confident is vital to answering the questions correctly. Oh and don€t worry, we won€t ask you to do breathing exercises and stupid stuff like that.
In step 4, we show you how to increase your speed on the verbal section. A lot of people have trouble finishing the verbal section, and most people blame this on slow reading. However, the truth is that failure to finish is a problem of inadequate test taking speed, and test taking speed can be enhanced with the right training program. You can use this same program to increase your speed on any section of the MCAT.
Finally, in step 5 we tell you how to study for the verbal section in a way that will help you actually get more questions right on exam day. Practice tests are vital, but there are a lot of other things you can do that help as well.
So are you ready to get started?
