We recommend the "Farm Innovators C-50 Premium Cast Aluminum Birdbath De-Icer, 150-Watt" It works well in temperatures down to 15 degrees Fahrenheit at which point the nipples freeze but the water inside the bucket will have no ice. Once morning comes, the nipples will unfreeze. We have been using this de-icer for 10 years and it works great with the nipple style bucket. You can drop an electric heater in the bucket and have the cord coming out of the small black hole without the cord having to come out of the side leaving the lid half way open.
