THE LENGTH OF TIME A CARTRIDGE LASTS DEPENDS ON SEVERAL FACTORS. THE MOST IMPORTANT ONE IS: If a lot of debris or algae is in the pool, the cartridge needs to be cleaned every day until the pool is clear. In season the cartridge should be cleaned every 4-5 weeks. Initially the catridge will need to be cleaned more often until the pool is clear and may appear grey after cleaning, but will not alter flow. Water passes through the media easily, using less pressure for a more energy efficient cartridge. The media has a slick feel with fibers on the inside to capture dirt particles there, making the cartridge easily cleaned. When the cartridge is cleaned the fibers on the inside release the dirt and you don't have to work as hard to clean the cartridge. The fibers don't get fuzzy over time extending the usable life of the cartridge. The point bonds add strength to the media, allowing it to hold up to the chemicals in the pool. The sharp pleating makes the cartridges easier to clean.
