The Free Space has a stereo 1/8" jack for mobile recording. Simply plug it in to your favorite stereo pre-amp, and start recording 100% pure binaural audio! The Free Space delivers a very sensitive and natural binaural recording. In many cases, you will not even want to, or need to edit the final recording. The low noise floor results in a very open and dynamic binaural realism, especially during very delicate recordings. The quiet 'openness' of the Pro is great for nature binaural recording as well. The Free Space has a very warm and solid response in the low to mid frequency range. This brings out the punch, as well as low end support for bass-heavy sounds. The frequency response of the microphone capsules roll off a bit above 10kHz. This is excellent for recording instruments with loud higher frequencies like drum cymbals or strummed acoustic guitars. It also prevents any 'harsh' effects that are sometimes associated with binaural recording with smaller capsules. But if you're concerned about any loss of detail, do not worry! The high frequencies are all very well preserved in the recording and can be brought out if needed with a simple high-shelf boost. The Free Space handles wind well, even without protection. It actually sounds like realistic wind in your ears, but without affecting the binaural experience. The all steel mounting hardware cold-shoe is the best available. Not only can you put it directly into a standard camera hot-shoe, but it has a female 1/4"-20 thread through the bottom of the plate to mount directly to a grip handle or a tripod!
