1983 China Panda 1 Ounce Gold MS-67 NGC
1983 CN China Gold Panda One Ounce Coin - 100 Yuan - NGC MS67. Lovely, deep mirrored fields with devices sharp and frosty. Pleasing whisp of coppery toning on the Panda's head and back. One of only 25,363 coins struck in this second year of issue. The official mint of the People's Republic of China introduced the Panda gold bullion coins in 1982. The panda design changes every year (with a single exception) and the gold Panda coins come in different sizes and denominations, ranging from 1/20 troy oz. to 1 troy oz. (and larger ones as well). There is also a Silver Panda series issued with the same designs as the gold Panda coins. The obverse depicts the Temple of Heaven in the center with Chinese characters on top saying 'Zhonghua Renmin Gongheguo' meaning 'People's Republic of China' and the bottom the year of issue. The reverse displays a different Panda design for each year issued, although 2001 and 2002 shared the same design.
