1947 Print Richard Halliburton Portrait American Adventurer Panama Canal Writer - Original Halftone Print

This is an original 1947 black and white halftone print of Richard Halliburton, a famous American adventurer and writer. Although he was frail as a youngster, spending time in Dr. Kellogg's Battle Creek Sanitarium (Michigan), he made up for it in later life by constantly pushing his own boundaries. Among his most notable achievements: Swimming the length of the Panama Canal, circumnavigating the globe in an open biplane named the Flying Carpet with aviator Moye Stephens and lastly, attempting to navigate the Sea Dragon, a Chinese junk, from Hong Kong to the Golden Gate Bridge. Unfortunately, he never made it. His grave lies empty in the Forest Hill Cemetery in Memphis, and reads "Lost at Sea".
