The micron designation refers to the size of openings in the screen. For example, particles greater than 100 microns in size will be retained on the screen while allowing all smaller to pass through. The mesh designation dictates the number of threads per square inch in each direction. 150 mesh tells us there 150 threads per inch each way. SS mesh screen used in a dry sift is by far the simplest way to capture precious gland heads. Also using progressively finer sized mesh allows you to classify the gland heads by size much in the same way bubble bags allow us to do but without all the hassle of melting ice, blenders, and wet product that requires drying.
