Opae Ula Care
These can be a ( NO maintenance shrimp) requiring no care. But to keep them breeding and happy keep the nitrates down and water clean. Feed weekly so they grow and mature faster. Feed more often with the more in your tank.
Breeding
They Breed slower then most common shrimp because they give birth to less at a time. The eggs have a very high hatch rate compared to other shrimp. Female shrimp should have places to hide and lay eggs. They might breed slower then most shrimp but they also live 20 times as long making it so the numbers will just keep adding over the years to come.
Behavior
They are very non aggressive and spend their day grazing and swimming around doing flips etc. in the water. They are very playfully and very entertaining to watch them eat with each other. HOWEVER my newest shrimp ( i call the alpha Opae Ula add a whole new excitement to the tank as they boss the other shrimp around due to there abnormal size ( 2-3 times bigger). I recommend one or two of these for each tank to add a lot more life and action. The alpha Opae do not harm the other shrimp they will just move them out of there way.
