1 Live Vampire Shrimp (Atya gabonensi) - 1 to 2 Inches Long - Grows Up to 6 Inches or More! by Aquatic Arts
Includes one live Vampire Shrimp (Also known as Viper Shrimp and African Filter Shrimp), which will grow to a maximum of 5-6 inches as an adult. This is one of the largest invertebrates that we have to offer. They are totally non-aggressive and will live peacefully with all other aquatic creatures. Most come in a deep, silvery blue color or brown, but these have been known to change colors a few times throughout the year.
It is important for these shrimp to have plant cover or other ways to hide during the molting process. Like dwarf shrimp, they eat algae and leftover fish food (as well as invertebrate food pellets.)
RECOMMENDED TANK PARAMETERS:
-pH level range: 6.5 - 7.4
- Temperature range: 74° - 84° F
- Water type: Soft to hard
- Recommended Aquatic Arts tank mates: Other types of dwarf shrimp (such as Blue Velvet shrimp, Sakura Fire Red Cherry Shrimp, Neon Yellow Shrimp, etc.), various types of snails (such as Nerite Snails, Sulawesi Snails, etc.). They can also be kept with any size of non-aggressive fish.
- Additional notes: Relatively easy to care for - their care is similar to Singapore Flower Shrimp, as well as various dwarf shrimp species. Like dwarf shrimp, Vampire Shrimp prefer to live in tanks with live aquatic plants (such as java moss, willow hygro green cabomba, etc.). This is because the shrimp like the cover that plants provide, they love to graze on the plants for algae, and the plants help keep the water clean for them.
